Modeling and experiments to better understand rural livelihoods decision-making
SharedCropping
What institutions among farmers sharing a space are necessary for farming in that shared space to be mutually beneficial?

SharedCropping offers a set of choices to players for how to use the land – planting, growing, harvesting, and livestock grazing – along with choices to build their own enterprises – taking loans, buying equipment – but offers no other rules inside the game. Players can harvest crops they didn’t grow, and can also gift resources to other players. Any spatial problem where there is interest in letting players make decisions at the patch as well as at the farm level, and where interactions could be shaped by institutions outside of the game code, could be great fits for farmSquares. This is an interpreter that we have put less effort so far into making usable and shareable, but welcome the case and the opportunity.

Code Base
SharedCropping is built from the farmSquares games interpreter, which is a bit less developed for sharing, but provides much of the same functionality that farmCards does, in a spatial game environment.
