Modeling and experiments to better understand rural livelihoods decision-making
CGIAR-IFPRI
In many ways, the ELM-Lab focus was born at IFPRI, when Andrew was a Research Fellow and collaborated with Dr. Wei Zhang to build the first game, NonCropShare.
The relevance of the ELM-Lab approach has remained strong in the years since, and IFPRI - through a number of CGIAR initiatives - has supported a range of different game structures and applications to a number of human-environment problem domains.
Importantly, IFPRI supported the development of GreenReserve (our most complicated player interface), SharedCropping (for which we developed the farmSquares game interpreter), and CutTheCreep (which was part of the motivation behind the simplification of farmSquares into tapSquares, which is currently the most developed and usable games interpreter we have).
