Mitsilo - Madagascar

The ELM-Lab collaboration with the Mitsilo lab in Madagascar, run by Dr. Sarobidy Rakotonarivo, is one of our most extensive collaborations - linked as well to Dr. Rakotonarivo's earlier time on the ConFooBio project.

As the lab describes, Mitsilo is the Malagasy verb for “light the way” and in their own words, the lab "aims to use the best available scientific and experiential evidence to guide rural development and environmental policies in various African contexts (especially in Madagascar) so they are more effective and more equitable."

Collaborating with Dr. Rakotonarivo through ConFooBio and later through Mitsilo has pushed the boundaries of what we think we can communicate through games, with applications in land tenure, village savings and loans, agroforestry, and beyond.
